Hounslow opens its first children's home in over a decade

Hounslow Council's new six-bedroom residential home on Bedfont Lane is set to open in Spring 2026.

It is the borough's first new children's home in more than ten years and will provide specialist support for children who need to stay connected to their schools, social workers and local communities. When children with complex needs are placed outside their home borough, they often lose those connections. Changing schools mid-term, travelling long distances to see family, losing contact with professionals who know their history. Bedfont Lane is designed to prevent that.

"Keeping children in-borough means they stay connected to the people and places that matter most. This home is part of a bigger vision to provide stability and continuity, so every child feels rooted in their community while receiving the specialist care they need."

Staff at the home will work therapeutically with children who have experienced trauma, supporting them to build healthy relationships and develop coping strategies.

The home is led by a Registered Manager and Deputy Manager who have been involved from the very start, building the team, shaping daily practice and establishing how the home will run.

Bedfont Lane represents a strategic commitment by Hounslow to keep its most vulnerable young people close to the networks and relationships that support them. It is one home, for six children, built around the principle that continuity matters.
