Residential Worker, Team Leader, and Bank Support Worker – Precious House

Posted 16th Jun, 2026

About the role

St Christopher's Fellowship has several opportunities at Precious House, a children's home in Croydon, for candidates at different levels of experience and availability. The roles currently available are Team Leader, Children's Residential Worker (Days and Nights), and Bank Support Worker.

St Christopher's provides positive life experiences for young people who are unable to sustain a placement in their parental or foster home. Staff at Precious House contribute directly to creating stability and consistency for these young people, working as part of a team that places young people at the centre of everything it does.

Shift pattern details vary by role. The Children's Residential Worker post covers both day and night shifts; full details of rota cycles, shift times, and weekend working are available within the individual role listings. Bank Support Workers work on a flexible basis to meet the home's staffing needs.

To apply, you must complete an application through St Christopher's own recruitment site — please do not apply via this listing, as applications submitted here will not be reviewed. Each application must include a supporting statement that addresses the criteria in the Person Specification for the role you are applying for. CVs will not be accepted. For assistance during the application process, contact recruitment@stchris.org.uk.

About You

St Christopher's is looking for people who are committed to improving outcomes for children and young people, and who can bring stability, consistency, and care to their work at Precious House. The requirements differ across the three roles, so candidates should review the Person Specification for the specific post they are applying for.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have relevant experience of working with children or young people in a residential, care, or similar setting.
  • Be willing to work towards, or already hold, qualifications appropriate to their level of role within the home.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of young people who have experienced placement instability.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team, including across day and night shifts where required.
  • Show a commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and supporting young people's safety and wellbeing.

St Christopher's is committed to safeguarding all children and young people in its care. All appointments are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a check against the children's barred list. Applicants who are already registered with the DBS Update Service are encouraged to note this; where this is not the case, a DBS check will be completed before the successful candidate starts. Right-to-work checks will be carried out as part of the recruitment process.

St Christopher's welcomes applications from all backgrounds and is committed to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the young people it supports.
