About the role
This part-time Senior Therapeutic Intervention Worker post is based across children's homes in Windsor, Teddington, and Surbiton, operating within Achieving for Children's provider services. The role sits at the heart of day-to-day care delivery, with responsibility for safeguarding children's wellbeing, maintaining a therapeutic environment, and providing senior-level guidance to the wider team.
Working hours are 99 hours per month. Specific shift pattern and rota details are not set out in the advert; candidates are encouraged to raise these at interview or contact the recruiting team directly.
The role involves responding to crises, supporting the team through periods of challenge, and ensuring that safeguarding policies and procedures are followed consistently. Key worker responsibilities for identified children sit alongside regular communication with social workers, schools, and other relevant professionals to ensure continuity of care. Liaison with families, advocates, and external agencies is an ongoing feature of the work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as key worker for identified children, addressing issues promptly and ensuring their individual needs are met
- Providing guidance to colleagues on effective care practices and managing challenging behaviour
- Maintaining relationships with relatives, advocates, social workers, schools, and other relevant professionals
- Ensuring the upkeep of the home and adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures
- Liaising with agencies, stakeholders, and services associated with the home

About You
Achieving for Children is looking for an experienced residential childcare professional who can provide confident, thoughtful senior leadership within a children's home setting. You will bring both the technical knowledge and the interpersonal skills to support children effectively while guiding a team around you.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
- Have experience leading a team, including line management, performance management, and change management
- Possess knowledge of relevant theory that informs practice delivery in residential childcare
- Have experience building strong partnerships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse range of stakeholders, including children, young people, and their families, and be committed to advocating the voices of those they work with
- Be able to use data, intelligence, and evidence to create meaningful insight and inform their own decision-making
- Have experience keeping and maintaining records in accordance with local policy, and producing accurate reports, presentations, and written updates for a range of audiences including families and young people
- Have experience addressing specific equality or diversity issues within practice and taking action to resolve them
