About the role
The Children with Disabilities (CWD) Outreach Service provides care and support for children with disabilities in their own homes and in their local communities across Surrey. This is a bank role, meaning hours are agreed in advance with your line manager, with availability required before and after school, during school holidays, and at weekends.
Support Workers are matched to individual children based on experience, skills, and availability, providing a consistent, tailored service that aligns with each child's care plan. The service aims to improve outcomes for disabled children in Surrey, and the role sits within a growing team covering all areas of the county. Surrey will aim to match you with a child within half an hour of your home. Given the nature of the work, you should be comfortable operating in a lone working environment.
This role includes:
- Providing personal care and manual handling support within the child's home
- Supporting children to access leisure and community opportunities
- Working within a child's individual care plan to deliver a consistent, quality-assured service
- Travelling across Surrey to reach children and families in both urban and rural areas
To apply, submit a CV and answer the following three questions: what motivated you to apply; any experience you have of working with children or young people with disabilities; and what skills or training you have that are relevant to the role. For informal enquiries, contact Rachel Weatherley at cwdoutreach@surreycc.gov.uk. The closing date is 14 September 2026 at 23:59.
