Apprentice Support Worker – Beaulieu House (Short Breaks and Respite)

About the role
Beaulieu House is a Children's Home and Short Breaks Service for children with disabilities, located in Newport, Isle of Wight. Three Apprentice Support Worker vacancies are available — two at 37 hours per week and one at 25 hours per week — each on a two-year fixed-term apprenticeship contract, with a guaranteed permanent contract offered on successful completion of the diploma.
The home focuses on developing independence through life skills, ensuring children have fun and access new experiences. The approach is child-led, with activities tailored to each individual. Young people have enjoyed trips to Legoland, Robin Hill, Marwell Zoo, and many more adventures. Beaulieu House was graded 'Good' at its most recent Ofsted inspection.
Support Workers work alongside families and professionals to provide holistic, person-centred care for children and young people with behaviours that challenge and complex medical needs. This role includes:
- Providing compassionate, person-centred care and supporting children with daily routines, activities, and medical needs
- Encouraging independence and positive outcomes tailored to each young person
- Collaborating with families and professionals to ensure holistic care
- Participating in community activities and outings that broaden young people's experiences

About You
This role is well suited to someone at the start of their career in children's care who is committed to learning and growing within a supportive team. No prior experience is required — the apprenticeship provides full training and a structured route to a permanent career in residential childcare.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a genuine interest in working with children and young people with disabilities and complex needs
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
- Bring resilience, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn
- Be willing to work towards the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Level 4) as part of the apprenticeship programme
