About the role

Beaulieu House is a children's home and short breaks service supporting children and young people with disabilities, complex needs, and behaviours that challenge. These two Apprentice Support Worker posts offer the opportunity to begin a career in residential childcare while gaining recognised qualifications and hands-on experience within an Ofsted-rated Good service where children "receive quality care and achieve positive outcomes" and benefit from "warm, trusting relationships with a skilled and enthusiastic staff team."

Two vacancies are available: one at 37 hours per week and one at 30 hours per week. Both are fixed-term apprenticeship contracts for two years, with a permanent contract offered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. The role involves working across evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, for which enhanced pay rates apply.

The team at Beaulieu House is child-centred, tailoring activities, support, and experiences around each young person's interests, strengths, and aspirations. Young people enjoy visits to attractions including Legoland, Blackgang Chine, Tapnell Farm, Marwell Zoo, and Isle of Wight Zoo, alongside a wide range of other activities and community opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting children and young people with daily routines and personal care
  • Promoting independence, life skills, and access to education and community opportunities
  • Assisting with medical and health-related needs following training
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care planning
  • Building positive relationships with children, families, and professionals

To arrange an informal discussion or visit to Beaulieu House, contact Richard Evans, Registered Manager, at richard.evans@iow.gov.uk or on 01983 533024. Applications must be submitted online by the closing date of 18 October 2026.
