About the role

Westminster House provides specialist residential care for children with complex needs, including learning disabilities and behaviours that may challenge. This part-time Residential Worker role sits within a team that focuses on each child's safety, development and well-being through structured routines, tailored care and consistent support.

You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes communication, independence and emotional regulation. Working closely with colleagues and partner agencies, you'll ensure every child receives the right support at the right time, helping them build confidence and life skills.

This role includes:

  • Providing day-to-day care for children with learning disabilities, following individual care plans and promoting their well-being
  • Supporting children through educational, social and leisure activities that build confidence, independence and life skills
  • Communicating effectively using verbal and non-verbal methods, including specialist communication tools where needed
  • Working with multi-agency colleagues to support care planning, safeguarding and positive outcomes for children
  • Maintaining accurate and timely written records and contributing to meetings, reviews and reports

This is a site-based, part-time role of 20 hours per week. It operates on a two-week rota of waking night shifts (21:15–07:15). In week one, you will work Thursday nights; in week two, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Weekends are therefore a regular part of the pattern.

Interviews will be held on 17 September 2026. Click Apply Now to submit your application via the Milton Keynes City Council jobs portal. No direct apply email is listed; all applications should be submitted through the online system.
