About the role
Buckinghamshire Council is looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead one of its children's residential homes, taking overall responsibility for the quality of care, the performance of the staff team, and compliance with all relevant regulations. Positions are available across the county.
As Head of Home, you will shape the culture and daily life of the home, ensuring it is a safe, nurturing environment where children and young people can thrive. You will lead and develop your team, oversee budgets and resources, and work collaboratively with internal services and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes. The role carries responsibility for meeting Children's Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements, and the home's Statement of Purpose.
Flexibility to work unsocial hours is required, along with the ability to travel across the county.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day operations and ensuring the highest quality of care
- Leading, supervising, and developing staff to achieve outstanding outcomes
- Overseeing budgets and resources with strong financial management
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to promote positive outcomes for children
- Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements

About You
This role calls for a leader with a strong track record in children's residential management and a clear commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. You will be confident working within a regulated environment and able to inspire a team to deliver consistently high standards of care.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Level 5 Children's Residential Management qualification and have at least two years of residential management experience
- Have strong knowledge of current legislation, regulations, and best practice in children's residential care
- Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Bring a can-do attitude, resilience, and the ability to motivate others
- Be flexible to work unsocial hours when required and willing to travel across the county
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle, both of which are essential for this role
