About the role
This is a fixed-term post of approximately 18 months, covering a secondment period, leading a multi-site residential service across three children's homes. The Registered Manager provides leadership and expert guidance to a large staff team, ensuring that high quality standards of care continue to be provided to the children in our care.
The role carries operational responsibility for staffing, safeguarding compliance, budget management, and regulatory oversight across all three homes. You will liaise directly with Regulation 44 (Reg 44) independent visitors and Ofsted inspectors, and will be required to undergo Ofsted registration as Registered Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the service continues to operate in accordance with the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Children's Home Regulations
- Organising and deploying staff across the homes to maintain operational staffing levels, and leading on recruitment
- Ensuring staff implement and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, including completing notifications to Ofsted following serious incidents
- Managing a large service-level budget, deploying resources in a manner that supports positive outcomes for children and demonstrates value for money
- Completing and submitting Regulation 45 (Reg 45) reports to Ofsted every six months, and ensuring that actions or recommendations arising from Reg 44 visits or Ofsted inspections are completed in a timely manner

About You
We are looking for an experienced and confident leader who can provide strong, consistent direction to a large, high-performing service. The right candidate will bring a track record in children's residential management and the credibility to represent the service to regulators and commissioners.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have prior management experience working within a children's residential home setting
- Have worked within a children's home for at least two years within the last five years
- Already hold a Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or an equivalent recognised qualification, or be willing to complete this qualification if not already held
- Be willing to undergo the Ofsted registration process to become a Registered Manager
- Have experience leading a large, high-performing service and managing a significant budget
