About the role
This is a whole-school Health Lead role at Gildredge House, an all-through school in Eastbourne serving students aged 4 and upwards across Primary and Secondary phases. The role carries strategic responsibility for the school's approach to student health and wellbeing, working across both phases to ensure students receive the right support at the right time.
You will work closely with the Deputy Head Teacher for Behaviour, Attitudes and Safeguarding, as well as the wider Pastoral Support Team in both phases. The position is part-time and term-time only; the salary of £28,458 to £30,334 will be pro rata accordingly.
This role includes:
- Developing, implementing and reviewing the whole school health strategy, encompassing mental health, physical health, first aid and medical needs
- Working across Primary and Secondary phases to contribute to students' long-term health and wellbeing
- Collaborating closely with colleagues throughout the school to coordinate pastoral and health support
- Supporting the Deputy Head Teacher for Behaviour, Attitudes and Safeguarding in whole-school safeguarding and welfare matters
- Playing a strategic role in ensuring students with medical needs are appropriately supported

About You
Gildredge House is looking for an experienced and committed practitioner who understands the health and wellbeing needs of children and young people across different stages of their education. You will be comfortable working strategically as well as directly with students, families, and colleagues.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a substantial level of experience of working with children and young people in an educational or pastoral context (essential)
- Be able to take a strategic lead in developing and reviewing whole-school health policy and practice
- Work effectively across Primary and Secondary age groups, adapting their approach accordingly
- Demonstrate strong collaborative skills, including the ability to work alongside senior leaders and a multi-disciplinary pastoral team
- Be committed to inclusive practice that supports all students, including those with medical needs or mental health difficulties
