About the role

Buckinghamshire Council is recruiting a Registered Manager to take overall leadership of one of its children's residential homes, with positions available across the county. As Head of Home, you'll be responsible for shaping a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.

The role carries full accountability for operational management, regulatory compliance, and the quality of care delivered. You'll lead a dedicated team, driving high standards of safeguarding and continuous improvement, while working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to promote positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing day-to-day operations and ensuring the highest quality of care
  • Leading, supervising, and developing staff to achieve outstanding outcomes
  • Overseeing budgets and resources with strong financial management
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to promote positive outcomes for children
  • Ensuring compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements, and the Statement of Purpose

About You

Buckinghamshire Council is looking for an experienced leader who brings both operational capability and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. You'll need the confidence to inspire a team, navigate complex challenges, and maintain consistently high standards of care.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Level 5 Children's Residential Management qualification and have at least two years of residential management experience
  • Have strong knowledge of current legislation, regulations, and best practice in children's residential care
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Bring a can-do attitude, resilience, and the ability to motivate others
  • Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle, both of which are essential for travelling across the county
  • Be flexible to work unsocial hours when required
