About the role
As Registered Manager — known internally as Head of Home — you'll take overall responsibility for the leadership and management of a children's residential home in Buckinghamshire, ensuring compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements, and the home's Statement of Purpose. Positions are available across the county.
This is a leadership role focused on driving high standards of care and safeguarding, building a culture of continuous improvement, and enabling a dedicated staff team to achieve strong outcomes for children and young people. You'll work closely with internal teams and external agencies to promote positive outcomes, oversee budgets and resources, and ensure the home operates in line with all legal and regulatory requirements.
The role requires flexibility to work unsocial hours when needed, including across weekends, and the ability to travel across the county. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day operations and ensuring the highest quality of care

About You
Buckinghamshire Council is looking for an experienced residential leader who brings a clear, grounded understanding of what children in residential care need, and the management capability to deliver it consistently. You'll be someone who can inspire a team, maintain high standards under pressure, and build strong professional relationships across a range of agencies.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Level 5 Children's Residential Management qualification and have at least two years of residential management experience
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of current legislation, regulations, and best practice in children's residential care
- Bring excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Have a can-do attitude, resilience, and the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Be flexible to work unsocial hours when required and willing to travel across the county
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle (both are essential requirements)
